A GROUP of Hartlepool youngsters have joined police this week in a trip to the great outdoors.
More than 30 pupils from Ward Jackson School spent Wednesday and Thursday night at a Youth Hostel Association hostel, in Scarborough, with PC Alistair Snowdon and headteacher Peter King.
The youngsters took part in mountain biking and orienteering and enjoyed a trip to Scarborough Castle.
The aim of the trip was to build the children's confidence and encourage team work.
PC Snowdon said: "We're very grateful to the YHA Police Partnership Scheme for their help in organising the visit and also to all those businesses who have helped fund it.
"The trip benefited all the children taking part as well as others in the school since we hope to arrange future excursions.
