A WEEKEND of shamrock shenanigans is in store for wacky North-East volunteers taking part in this year's Dublin Dash.
The dash, in aid of Marie Curie Cancer Care, happens in September and teams are needed to take part.
The problem is that the charity's wandering bears have escaped and they need to get back to their sanctuary at the Wanderers Football Club, Dublin.
Teams, who will be given a cuddly wandering bear to carry with them, will have 24 hours to get from the start point at The Old Farmhouse, Darlington, to Dublin. Along the way they will tackle a series of challenges and will score points for their fancy dress and the forms of transport they use.
A final "mystery physical challenge" will then determine the ultimate winner.
Carol Oliver, Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraising manager, said: "Hopefully the dash will appeal to people with a sense of fun who are willing to do anything and support the charity at the same time."
The event begins on Friday, September 21, and finishes in Dublin with the Marie Curie Cancer Ceilidh.
One team is already signed up, but five more are needed with a maximum of four members each.
Each team needs to raise £1,000 in sponsorship between them. To be part of the event, contact Carol Oliver on 0191-382 3311 or (07798) 638141.
