A GROUP of disabled and able-bodied performers is staging a show in aid of a hospital unit for premature babies.
The Making Music Project, which has been run by the Mid-Durham Community Education Service for five years, brings together singers and dancers aged 11 to 22, some of whom have learning difficulties.
The project, which is based in Gilesgate, Durham, has taken various musical shows to youth and community groups throughout the county.
It will stage a 'spectacular summer sizzler of songs' on Friday, July 6, in Durham Gilesgate Sports College, Bradford Crescent, Gilesgate.
Community education worker Pat Hill said the group had produced a show for all the family with music - including ballads and chart hits - dance, competitions and activities for youngsters in the audience.
"We have discussed the issue of the area of need that young people can help others. They have decided that all money raised from the show will go to the Tiny Lives Fund. This unit of the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, helps premature and ill babies from all over the North-East.
"The neonatal unit provides care for 600 babies each year and always needs funding to support this specialised work.
"We would love to have a full house so that everyone can have a good evening and our young people can help others in need.''
The show will start at 7pm and cold refreshments and tuck will be on sale.
Tickets cost £2 for adults (£1 for children under 18) and are available from Pat on (0191) 384 8358
