A YOUNG Darlington footballer could soon be in line for international honours.
Nick Lyons, captain of Carmel school's all-conquering under 15s side, is playing in a trial match for the North East team tomorrow.
If successful he could then go on to be selected for the England schoolboys' team and spend five days training at London's Keeble university in August.
The 14-year-old is hoping to make it as a professional footballer when he leaves school and has spent three years on Darlington's books.
Carmel teacher Mr Simon Hannaford said: "Nick was selected as the only Darlington player to go forward for the North East team and he has just kept on going.
"We think he has a really good chance of making it into the England side."
Nick says he has no preferences on which club he would eventually like to play for.
"I don't mind as long as I can become a professional," he said.
