A parish council is leading objections over plans to build a detached home in the garden of a dormer bungalow, near Boroughbridge.
Langthorpe Parish Council has tabled a four-point protest over an outline application for the new home at Sunny Haven, Skelton Road, in the village.
Four neighbours have also objected and Harrogate Borough Council planning officer Andy Hough is recommending refusal when Knaresborough area planning committee meets on Tuesday.
Mr Hough said the proposed home would be immediately behind a property known as Cherry Garth, a dormer bungalow. The site is reached via a private drive serving Sunny Haven and two other homes.
The parish objects on access grounds and says it had looked at a similar application before, when members had strongly objected. They feel existing homes are enough and that an additional one would be too intensive.
Residents claim the drive is not wide enough to accommodate more vehicles without danger to pedestrians and vehicles.
There are also objections on loss of privacy and a contention that vehicles reversing on to Skelton Road is dangerous.
In recommending refusal Mr Hough said accesses are not wide enough to accommodate additional pedestrians and vehicles without detriment to safety.
He also believes the proposed building plot would not allow development appropriate to the locality.
