WORKERS at the noisy Hobson Smith construction site in Saltburn couldn't understand why a bird was following their dumper truck until they discovered a tiny nest with half a dozen eggs wedged near the foot controls.
The truck, on loan from Pickering Plant in Middlesbrough, is now out of bounds because the RSPCA say it is illegal to disturb nesting birds.
The company has put the truck in a corner of the site to give the family of birds some peace and has loaned Hobson Smith a new truck until the birds fly the nest in five or six weeks time.
John Cairns, from Pickering Plant, said: "We don't mind at all. It will be nice to see the birds flourishing.
