The Countryside Agency has awarded a £10,600 grant to the Cleveland Divers for its Shipwreck Dimitris project which aims to give local people access to the former Greek cargo vessel which sank off the coast of Redcar in 1953.
The grant will be used to buy special underwater cameras, allowing people to view footage at the Virtual Reality Centre, Teesside University, in virtual reality dives.
There will also be an exhibition on the wreck at the Kirtkleatham Old Hall Museum and a series of events involving the local community.
