SWD Veterans League

There was a major surprise in the first round of the Team Knock Out Cup when First Division leaders, Sherburn Village visited Leeholme, third from the foot of the Second Division and found themselves taken to three rinks of an extra end each when the match was tied at 55 shots each. Leeholme became the giant killers when they took all three ends and won by seven shots. Bishop Auckland were another team to produce a giant killing act when they disposed of the visiting King George V by five shots. This result came because of the big 22 shot win by John Bowman's rink. Spennymoor B won their home match against Cockton Hill B by 15 shots but were disqualified from the competition for playing an illegible player. Cockton Hill B go through to the next round.
