A LANDMARK will be opened as a visitor attraction today.
Fulwell Mill, in Sunderland, has had an £810,000 restoration, which has seen a new visitor centre added.
Sunderland City Council leader Colin Anderson and the city's Mayor, councillor Ken Murray, will unveil a plaque to commission the building.
School parties are expected to make up a large proportion of visitors to the mill, where demonstrations of flour milling will be given.
From tomorrow, the centre and mill, off Newcastle Road, will be open to visitors, until the end of September, after which it will be open only on Sundays, until December 16.
The restoration has been carried out thanks to grant aid from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the European Rechar II programme, which was topped up with money from the council's own resources.
