ARTWORK of all shapes and sizes will light up a one-off multi-media exhibition in Chester-le-Street next week.

The event, which coincides with Alzheimer's Awareness Week, celebrates an arts project running since October, involving 50 pensioners.

The event will see residents from County Durham Care's Mendip House and Sunningdale House residential homes, in Chester-le-Street, join dance and movement artists from Equal Arts to stage a live performance.

At the same time, members of the Alzheimer's Disease Society's Aukland House centre, also in the town, will display two-dimensional artwork they have created with a local visual artist.

Iain Sharples of Equal Arts said: "Monday's event is a celebration of the project."

It is being held in the caf at Chester-le-Street Civic Centre from 2.30pm to 4pm.
