A VICTIM of bullying has drawn on his experiences to produce a video he hopes will hit back at the bullies.
Barry Bingham, who was picked on while a pupil in Darlington, has launched a campaign to stamp out bullying in schools by producing a video inspired by a poem he wrote.
The 20-year-old wrote the poem, Wild Animals, after suffering years of physical and verbal abuse from fellow pupils.
Along with friends, he decided to help other victims of bullying by making a video and showing it in schools.
He recently invited schools in Darlington and Newton Aycliffe to attend a viewing of the video at Longfield School, in Darlington.
Mr Bingham said: "The video is pretty hard-hitting and shocking, because it shows the abuse and violence that bullies dish out to their victims in graphic detail.
"But this may shock the bullies into stopping, and will hopefully encourage victims to speak up about their experiences."
The video was produced on a shoestring budget of just £3.50, and was recorded in Darlington.
Mr Bingham said: "Although the launch of the video was low-key, we want to thank all those who attended, and Longfield School.
"We will be inviting schools to attend future showings, and hopefully we can educate people on the effects of bullying."
