Harrogate and District Union - Keighley Golf Club hosted this away match for Harrogate team against one of the strongest Union teams.
The morning foursomes were very closely fought, but the Bradford team secured a comfortable win. Although four matches went to the 18th green for a result. A three and two win by the pairing of Stuart MacFarlane (Pannal) Tim Moorhouse (Harrogate) was the best result for Harrogate. A by the Ripon pairing of Cart Simpkin and Carl Peirson being the only other favourable result.
The afternoon singles did not show much improvement and it was not until Cart Simpkin (Ripon) managed to halve his match did Harrogate get any points on the board. This was followed by Joe Duckley (Harrogate) recording a three and one win and Tim Walsh (Otley) returning a matching score. The only other victory was achieved by Steven Whitwham (Bedale) in an exciting match which finished one up to claim two points for the Harrogate team.
Results (Harrogate names first) - Foursomes: Ian Richardson and Kevin Ward lost two down to Darryl Berry and Gareth Evans. Cart Peirson and Carl Simpkin halved with Simon Bell and Martin Foster. Julian Beer and Ian Morgan lost four and two to Andrew Utley and Andrew Riley, Stuart MacFarlane and Tim Moorhouse won three and two over Andrew Town and Karl Curran. C.Pierson (Ripon City) lost one down to L Martin (Baildon). T.Walsh (Otley) won three and one over A Dufton (Woodhall Mills). J.Beer (Bedale) lost six and four to A Utley (Keighley). S MacFarlane (Pannal) lost one down to A Riley (Ghyll). L Morgan (Otley) lost four and three to K Curran (South Bradford). Seniors Championship
Played at Bedale Golf Club on a beautiful hot day with a course in top condition, Senior Union members enjoyed this day out and it was pleasing to record the overall winner was Eric Clark from Masham Golf Club. He was not the only Masham member to receive a prize, for Derek Pickard also attended the presentation to pick up the runners-up prize in the 70+ category.
Prize-winners were as follows in this Stableford. competition, played from the medal tees: 40 points Eric Clark (23) (Masham), 39 points John Stewart (12) (Pannal), also David Taylor (20) (Bedale), and Tony Howard (20) (Bedale) all positions decided on countback.
Age category prize-winners - Category A (70 + years): 39 points Bob Mayo (20) (Harrogate), 38 points Derek Pickard (19) (Masham).
Category B: (65-69 years) 38 points John Shaw (10) (Bedale), 37 points Charles Love (17) (Pannal)
Category C: (64-60 years) 37 points David McFadden (14) (Pannal), 36 points Ian Chippindale (8) (Pannal).
Category D: (55-59 years) 37 points Maurice Whorley (12) (Knaresborough), 34 points Ron Sadler (9) (Knaresborough).
Senior Inter-Club League
With three matches played, a tie for leader between Pannal & Ripon City leads one to assume that an exciting season could be ahead.
Results to date: six points Pannal & Ripon City, four points Harrogate, three points Bedale, two points Knaresborough, Oakdale, Otley, Thirsk Northallerton, one point Masham.
In the parallel Junior League some clubs have played more matches than others, so comparison is rather difficult. However, at the top with six points are Harrogate and Thirsk and Northallerton. Although Harrogate have only played three matches against Thirsk and Northallerton five. Other scores are Oakdale played four with five points, Otley played three with five points, Bedale and Knareshorough played three with four points, Pannal played six with four points, Ripon City played three with four points, Ilkley played four with three points and Masham played six with one point.

The oldest club trophy dating back to 1896 and named after the presenter was won in 2001 by Martin Fuller, who also collected the gross prize with an excellent 71 in good golfing weather.
Leading scores - Division One: 66 Martin Fuller (5); 68 Ian Smith (5); 82 Rob Cullen (11).
Division Two: 70 Sandy Taylor (14); 71 Sam Bratley (2) and John Eyles (19) position decided on countback; 73 Bill Waters (16).

Red Cross Cup
The Stableford competition continues and has now reached the halfway stage and while scores are good, nobody has yet returned an outstanding score as in previous years. No doubt somebody will before the competition ceases.
Results: 43 points Ray Marshall (19); 41 Kevin Clinton (19); 40 Chris Stubbs (13).
Ladies June Medal
With a gross 77, Sue Mayman returned the best score of the day but only gave her second position in this nett competition.
Results: Silver, 70 Shirley Bibby (2); 71 Sue Mayman (6). Bronze 1, 70 Margaret Hill (25), 74; Janet Sunley (25). Bronze 2, 67 Margaret Ritchie (33); 70 Yvonne Beasley (32).
