RECYCLING firm Hanrattys is urging groups and individuals to register with it for a new campaign that will improve the local environment.

The Darlington business wants people to get involved in the Make Things Happen campaign that could win them up to £500.

The campaign, set up by the Aluminium Packaging Recycling organisation (Alupro), is backed by TV presenter, singer and actress, Toyah Wilcox.

Schools, community groups and all types of fundraisers collecting Aluminium cans and foil, are eligible for prizes of environment vouchers. Recyclers will also be paid for their aluminium cans by Hanrattys.

Toyah said: "There's something for everyone in this scheme, and by joining in you can help the environment in two ways. You will have helped create something special using the value of aluminium and even more important, you will have got into the habit of helping to save energy."

Recycling aluminium saves 95 per cent of the energy used to make it in the first place.

To register for the campaign, either visit Hanrattys, in Wooler Street, Northgate, Darlington to collect a form. Or ring Alupro on (0121) 633 4656 for more information.
