AN east Cleveland after-school club is to be expanded because it is so successful.
Last April, the club at St Joseph's Primary School, in Loftus, gained a £10,000 grant from the New Opportunities Fund with help from the Redcar and Cleveland Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership.
Now the 24-place club is due to be expanded to 32 places because it is proving such a success with both children and parents.
Headteacher Mike Atkinson said: "The club has been really welcomed by parents and is a great hit with the children too.
"Currently, 24 youngsters come to the club every night and take part in a wide range of activities, including gardening, craftwork, computing, cooking and a homework session.
"Parents have also found that the club provides them with a welcome chance to unwind after work, and have a coffee and a chat with other parents.
"It is truly thriving thanks to the quality of the care provided by the two leaders of the club, Debbie Tose and Kay Brown. They ensure the youngsters are stimulated and enjoy every minute of the time they spend here."
