After disposing of Yevgeny Kafelnikov in the previous round, much had been expected of Canas but Enqvist proved too strong, storming to a straight sets win and a last eight clash with Pat Rafter, who beat Mikhail Youznhy 2-6 6-3 6-2 7-5.
