VOLUNTEERS are wanted for a service which provides breaks for carers of people with
dementia.
The service, run by County Durham and Darlington NHS Priority Trust, provides free support to people responsible for 24-hour home care of a friend or relative.
Vicki Raine, sitting service co-ordinator, who is based at St Hilda's Day Care Centre, Darlington, said: "We are looking for caring, responsible people aged 18 years and over, who are prepared to give carers a few hours break from what can be an overwhelming and lonely situation.
"It is an opportunity to do something worthwhile through helping people and perhaps making new friends."
Anyone who would like to volunteer or who requires more information is asked to call (01325) 284139 or (01325) 284785.
