NEW ideas are being formed as part of an important action plan to improve the environment and quality of life in Hartlepool.
People of all ages from around the town took part in workshops to mark the launch of the five-year strategy drawn up by Hartlepool Borough Council, in partnership with local businesses and residents.
The actions being taken this year focus on cutting levels of pollution, an area highlighted as a priority by local people during consultation with them.
Paul Dixon, the council's health and environment co-ordinator said: "The launch was a great success. The workshops sparked even more interesting ideas and suggestions, ranging from ways of saving energy in the home, to encouraging more people to car-share on journeys."
Copies of the plan will be published later this year, and will be available at libraries, council buildings and on the Internet.
Mr Dixon said: "The challenge will then be for everyone who lives in Hartlepool to help put the plan into action, to improve our quality of life for the future.
"In the meantime, we would certainly welcome any more comments, ideas or suggestions."
