THE father of a murdered university student is to receive her degree, a year after his daughter was killed.
Roy Cameron is making an emotional return to Tyneside to collect the posthumous award on behalf of his daughter, Sara.
She would have been due to collect the honour from her European sports management course on July 20, with her fellow students at Northumbria University.
Ms Cameron, 21, died on April 20 last year, following an attack near her home in Earsdon, North Tyneside.
Police have not yet traced the prime suspect - a man wearing a two-tone fleece jacket - spotted on closed-circuit television footage.
Police have taken 3,465 swabs and eliminated 2,900 men from the inquiry by DNA testing.
Mr Cameron said: "Seeing Sara collect her degree should have been the happiest day of my life - now it will be tinged with sadness."
