TRANSPORT bosses have unveiled plans to create a futuristic shops development in the heart of Newcastle.
Nexus managers, who have put the project on the site in Northumberland Street out to tender, say it will provide scope for development above the Haymarket Metro station.
The elevated shops development includes planning permission for an open balcony and enclosed glazed seating areas.
The development will include upgrading of the Metro Station facade to create a podium, which will afford extensive views over the city.
