WORRIED Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren was last night waiting for a full report after Alen Boksic was involved in a yachting accident.
The Croatian striker was understood to have escaped unhurt after his yacht was in collision with three boats off Bakavoda on the Adriatic.
Sources say it was believed to be a "minor" incident, but Boro won't be happy until they hear from Boksic, who is due to report back for pre-season training next Monday.
Boksic, 31, was Boro's player of the year last season and last week assured new manager McClaren that he is committed to the club.
Meanwhile, Wimbledon quarter-finalist Goran Ivanisevic has joined fellow countryman Boksic in backing Croatian side Hadjuk Split.
Boksic, along with footballing compatriots Igor Stimac, Slaven Bilic and Aljosa Asanovic, is providing £500,000 towards Hadjuk's Champions' League campaign.
And Ivanisevic, Wimbledon conqueror of Britain's Greg Rusedski, is topping up the coffers with a £1m donation.
l Boro are taking a look at Bordeaux's Francois Grenet.
The versatile Frenchman, who can operate at right-back, has been linked with Sunderland, but yesterday revealed on his personal website that he has had talks with Boro.
"I am not here for a trial, but to visit the club and have talks,'' said the 26-year-old.
"Middlesbrough insisted that I accept their invitation. I was with them all day on Tuesday, and what I saw impressed me.
"After the visit, I went for dinner with my agent and Steve McClaren. I did not hide to him my attraction to English football.
"I need one week or ten days of reflection. This is not a decision you take lightly.
"I know other clubs are interested, from Spain in particular, and I never close any gate."
* Boro were last night understood to be closing in on Aston Villa defender Gareth Southgate, who is the subject of a £7m bid by the Teessiders.
