SPORTS stars will be putting their knowledge to the test to raise money for a boy with a rare type of brain tumour.
Eight-year-old Elliott Lamb, of South Shields, has up to ten epileptic seizures a day due to the tumour.
His parents, Jacqueline and Stephen, hope to raise £30,000 to take him to Australia for an operation to remove the growth.
Volunteers from The Prince's Trust have organised a celebrity sports quiz featuring local football, rugby and cricket stars.
David Barnes, one of the organisers, said: "We will definitely be having some players from Newcastle Falcons, and we are just waiting for confirmation from other organisations, including Newcastle and Sunderland football clubs.
"Denise Robertson, the agony aunt, hopes to be there, and Tyne Tees may send some of their sports reporters or newsreaders."
The quiz will be a cross between A Question of Sport and They Think It's All Over, and there will be a chance to question the stars.
It will take place on Friday, July 20, at 7.30pm, at Westoe Rugby Union Club, South Shields. Tickets cost £5 and are available on 0191-514 9336.
