ELECTRONICS systems firm Intelligent Power Systems has been snapped up by The Turbo Genset Company in a £1.5m deal.
IPS, of Gateshead, designs and builds power electronic systems, including high-voltage power supplies for lasers, film and television set-lighting systems, and mobile power management systems for battery chargers.
It employs about 42 staff in management, design and manufacturing roles.
IPS will strengthen Turbo Genset's capabilities in the design and manufacture of power electronic systems.
Colin Besant, chairman and chief executive, of Turbo Genset, of London, said: "I believe the integration of IPS within the Turbo Genset group is undoubtedly in the best interest of all our employees.
"I am delighted to welcome IPS into the group. Our combined strength will afford greater opportunities for the company, as well as rewards for our shareholders."
