TEESSIDE Green Party has joined the debate about the proposed east Middlesbrough transport corridor.
The party says the rail link from Nunthorpe to Middlesbrough is under-used, and proposals for a road in the Ormesby Beck Valley "deeply flawed".
A party spokesman said: "Any new relief road into Middlesbrough would simply encourage more traffic to converge on the Longlands area and on the A66.
"Meanwhile, drivers would be tempted to use the proposed Nunthorpe park-and-ride only while congestion continues."
The party suggests the restoration of the Guisborough branch railway, a station being put in at the hospital site, and more intensive services, with better integration between buses and trains.
