Tim Henman and Goran Ivanisevic must wait until tomorrow before concluding their semi-final clash after rain stopped play on centre court today.
The British number one is firmly in the driving seat, leading the Croat two sets to one after winning the third set 6-0.
The winner will face Pat Rafter, who made his way through to a second successive Wimbledon final after beating hot favourite Andre Agassi in a classic encounter on centre court.
Despite falling behind in the first set, 2-6, the 28-year-old Australian battled his way back to claim the second, 6-3.
Agassi regained the lead in the third set at 6-3 but once again Rafter fought back to win the fourth, 6-2.
Rafter sealed his place in Sunday's final, clinching the fifth set 8-6.
Rafter said afterwards: "I was very, very lucky. He had a couple of opportunities that would have put me away early in the fifth set but he didn't take them and I'm very fortunate to get through.
"Nothing really went his way today, even the line judge gave him the code violation and probably a couple of dicey line-calls didn't go his way either.
"I sort of feel bad for him but I have to enjoy it also. I just wanted to hang in there and hold my serve.
"He was definitely the better player throughout the fifth set and I just got that last opportunity and got lucky.''
Rafter will meet either Tim Henman or Goran Ivanisevic, who are currently battling it out on centre court.
