Junior roundup - Sunderland Tomahawks completed their season by winning the Kilmarnock Under-19 tournament at the Galleon Centre, Kilmarnock.
Tomahawks had victories over Ayr Eagles, South Ayr Select and Kilmarnock Storm in the round robin stage to reach the final.
The tournament hosts were Tomahawks opponents in the final which was a close run affair. The outcome was decided on penalty shots which James Hutchinson converted to give the title to Sunderland. The Wearsiders had a goal disallowed in overtime which took the match into penalty shots.
Kilmarnock went ahead in the third minute only for Adam Carr to score the equaliser seven minutes later.
Tomahawks' first match brought them up against Ayr Eagles and Hutchinson put Sunderland ahead after only 40 seconds. He completed a hat-trick with a brace in the first minute of the final period.
Carr bagged a double and Hutchinson his fourth as they cruised to a 6-0 win.
Next to face Sunderland was South Ayr Select and they also were hit by an early goal. Hutchinson striking after 50 seconds. He added another in the ninth minute which saw Carr drive home a third in the first minute of the final period. The victory was wrapped up to a 5-0 as David Thomas and Carr scored late in the game.
Kilmarnock were Sunderland's final opponents in the round robin stage. Carr and Thomas sent Tomahawks into the break 2-0 ahead. Four goals in five minutes at the start of the final period from Carr (2), Hutchinson and Stephen Laidler increased the lead to 6-0. Kilmarnock reduced the deficit in the 23rd minute. Michael Allinson and Hutchinson wrapped up the scoring for an 8-1 victory with late goals.
