POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a road crash on Friday evening in which a teenage woman died.
The accident happened at 10pm on the A167 around 500 metres north of the Pity Me roundabout near Durham City.
A Ford Fiesta, travelling south towards Durham City left the road and hit a steel fence and trees.
The driver, Suzanne Marie Preen, of High Grange, Crook, suffered multiple injuries.
The 18-year-old was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact Durham Police Accident Unit on 0191-375 2159.
