A DOORMAN was jailed yesterday for a brutal street attack on a man.
Mark Dawson's victim outside a Stockton pub was too frightened to give evidence after he suffered a deep cut on his head, said Michael O'Neill.
Both men were customers who were ejected from Bojangles, in Church Road, Stockton.
Dawson, 33, was caught on a CCTV camera as he punched the man without warning and then kicked him as he lay on the ground, Teesside Crown Court heard.
Tim Roberts, defending, told Judge Tony Briggs, who watched the film in court: "There were five seconds of violence."
He said that Dawson was punched inside the pub and then another man jumped on his back.
The pub doormen led them all outside, where Dawson heard that one man had a knife.
Dawson blamed his violent outburst on being unsettled after he was a glassing victim months previously.
Mr Roberts said it was out of character because Dawson was a licensed doorman working in Stockton for many years.
Dawson, of Flodden Way, Billingham, was jailed for nine months after he pleaded guilty to the November 10 affray.
