DESPITE the continued spread of foot-and-mouth disease across North Yorkshire, a long distance walk has been re-opened in the county.
Ramblers can now undertake the walk, which combines the Cleveland Way and Wolds Way National Trails.
The route covers more than 66 miles from Fridaythorpe, in East Yorkshire, to Whitby, in North Yorkshire.
Malcolm Hodgson, National Trails officer at the North York Moors National Park, said: "This is good news for walkers. The route represents up to five days of continuous walking across two distinctly different and beautiful landscapes of the Yorkshire Wolds and the North Yorkshire coastline section of the North York Moors."
There are a few diversions in place along the route and because of the continually changing situation with foot-and-mouth, walkers are advised to contact Mr Hodgson on (01439) 770657 to check any amendments.
