Shoppers will be able to get away from the hustle and bustle of the malls to take part in a religious service on Sunday.
It will take place at the MetroCentre, Gateshead, and will be recorded for TV.
The service will be screened at a later date for the Tyne-Tees programme The Seventh Day Revisited, which asks: "What do people do on a Sunday?"
The programme will reflect changing attitudes, and the idea that Sunday is now just another working day.
The service will take place at 3.30pm, in Exhibition Square, near Woolworths, and will include a selection of favourite hymns, with music provided by a band from South Shields Christian Fellowship.
MetroCentre chaplain Lyn Jamieson said: "The service is a lovely way to spend time celebrating in the middle of shopping.
"The service promises to be a lively event, and all shoppers and staff are more than welcome to participate."
