A SECURITY camera is to be installed at a sports complex in Newton Aycliffe in an effort to deter vandals.
Great Aycliffe Town Council is to fund the closed-circuit television camera at the Oak Leaf Sports Complex.
The camera will cover to the centre, the golf complex and the council's depot.
Town clerk Michael Rice said: "We are going to have a look at the siting and the height of it to see if it can cover all we want it to. We are proposing to fund the costs of the erection and the running costs, which we already do for cameras in the town centre."
Mr Rice said that the proposal was in response to complaints of damageat the site.
"We have had problems of damage to cars visiting the complex and we have had thefts from the council depot, so there are security reasons for putting one in there," he said.
