PLEASURE trips on one of the region's rivers are taking place this summer.
The Shields Ferry is running afternoon pleasure trips along the Tyne until September and include free children's entertainment.
The trips leave the South Shields ferry landing at noon and 2pm on Wednesdays.
Trips from Newcastle City Centre set off from outside The Pitcher and Piano on the Quayside on Sundays, at noon and 2pm.
Tickets cost £5 for adults and £3.50 for children aged under 14.
Family tickets, for two adults and two children, cost £14.
Andy Bairstow, head of marketing at Nexus, which operates the ferry, said: "An afternoon trip on the ferry is a great way to take a relaxing break this summer."
