A DESIGN company has unveiled a piece of artwork which will be displayed on one of Europe's largest sculpture trails.
L&JB Designs, of Hurworth, Darlington, won one of 25 commissions to produce a piece of public art for the Irwell Sculpture Trail, between Manchester and Salford.
The company spent six months in the community in Salford, before deciding on three stainless steel ships as its design.
Lee Brewster, who undertook the community and consultation work, said: "We designed these ships to represent the bringing and taking away of culture into Salford through the river."
L&JB Designs worked closely with Darlington firm Profix Fabrications, which made the sculpture. It will be sited along the river within the next two months.
L&JB Designs has also been invited to design the interior of the paediatric unit of the new South Tees Hospital.
