GARY BENNETT has denied any of his players are heading the Feethams exit door - and revealed he is giving a trial to two potential new signings.
The Darlington boss has confirmed the club has no plans to off-load any of the squad, despite a healthy selection of midfielders and the signing of Neil Maddison.
On top of this, striker Barry Conlon has been added to the squad for a fee believed to be around £60,000.
"We've got competition all over the park now and that's what we need," said Bennett.
"Defensively we're strong with the likes of Craig Liddle and David Brightwell and in midfield we've competition for places with the likes of Martin Gray and Brian Atkinson.
"We've got players who can play in more than one position, like Mark Convery, who can play wide-left or wide-right, or Paul Campbell, who can play wide or just behind the front two."
Although he remains tight-lipped about the identity of the duo, Bennett admitted he's been inundated with phone calls from players who want an opportunity to earn a contract.
"We've got a couple of triallists in who want to show us what they can do, lads who've been released by their clubs in the summer and what to be given a chance.
"From next week the friendlies start and that's when things get going and we'll see the triallists play in some matches."
The Quakers get their pre-season games under way with a three-team tournament at Blyth next week, starting with a game against Ayr United on Wednesday before facing the host club on the Friday.
On Saturday, July 21, Darlington field a Select XI at Spennymoor United's Brewery Field, before travelling to Whitby for a game on the 24th.
