PARENTS and former pupils are invited to take a look around a community primary school as part of its end-of-term silver jubilee celebrations next week.
Moorside Primary School opened its doors in January 1976 to serve the area between Castleside and The Grove, on the outskirts of Consett.
As it is nearing the end of its 25th academic year, headteacher Janet Wrightson and staff have decided to mark the anniversary by opening the doors of the Chester Road premises to allow local people to see the school and attached nursery at work.
Members of Consett's Acorn Trust will be on hand to help with the development of the school garden, for which the local branch of DIY chain Focus has donated equipment.
Nigel Connah, Sunderland Football Club's schools liaison officer, will present certificates to three pupils who have taken part in a citizenship scheme.
The school will be open from 9.30am to 11.30am and 1pm to 3pm, on Wednesday.
