ARTISTIC students have created a fitting tribute to the memory of a popular teacher who died nearly two years ago.
Youngsters at the Allertonshire School, in Northallerton, worked with sculptor Anthony Sturgess to produce a White Rose design in honour of David Dick, the former head of art at Northallerton College.
Mr Dick, a proud Yorkshireman, died at his home in Harrogate in 1999 after suffering from a viral infection. He was 45.
Headteacher at the Allertonshire School, Madeleine Hart, said the sculpture - a joint project between the school and college - would eventually be placed in the David Dick memorial garden.
"David was a devout Yorkshireman so it is very fitting," she said. "The students have been working on it in school and we are delighted with it."
