A MOVE to bring democracy to the people of an area of County Durham gets under way later this month.
Earlier this year three public forums were set up Derwentside to help the public identify areas of community life that need Government attention.
A new series of forums will take place as the result of a partnership between Durham County Council, Derwentside District Council and Derwentside NHS Primary Care Group.
The first round, back in February, was hailed as a success by organisers with hundreds of members of the public turning up. Leader of Derwentside council Alex Watson said: "A number of issues were discussed, but the areas with the highest percentage of interest concentrated on three main areas - health, young people and the environment."
Chairman of Derwentside Primary Care Group, Dr Jon Levick, said: "For the second round, we have a greater idea of the sorts of things the public is concerned about."
l The forums take place: on Tuesday at Consett Civic Hall, Wednesday at Stanley Civic Hall and Thursday at Lanchester Methodist Hall, each from 7pm until 9pm.
