A SPORTS club will be aiming for the top next season after getting a cash injection from the National Lottery.
Thirsk Hockey Club has received a £1,800 grant to purchase new equipment - the second major boost for the club, which has just completed one of its most successful seasons ever.
The club, which is based at the Thirsk floodlit pitch, has under-12 and under-16 squads competing in the Yorkshire junior leagues.
Another under-12 team and an under-14 girls' team are expected to be added next season, together with a second evening of coaching each week.
Club chairman Olwyne Dunning, said: "This cash will make a huge difference to the club.
"The facilities at Thirsk are superb and this club is growing stronger every year. Hambleton is becoming a major player in the hockey leagues in North Yorkshire."
