A girl buried the story of her school as it prepared to transfer to a new, multi-million pound building.
Clare Robinson, 13, from Rye Hills School, Redcar, buried a school diary, items of school uniform, PE kit, a copy of the national curriculum, textbooks, slide projectors and pupils' work in a time capsule, on Thursday.
The current building is to be demolished and the land reinstated as playing fields for the new £7.7m school being built on the site.
Deputy headteacher Mike Erskine said: "The burying of the time capsule is a fitting end to a two-year project which will see the new school open for pupils in September."
It will provide secondary education for 1,150 pupils.
