REVISED plans for a 50-acre country park in Ingleby Barwick have been submitted to Stockton Borough Council.
Provided in line with a final phase of housing on the current Riverdown scheme, the park would stretch from the western edge of Ingleby Barwick to the rivers Tees and Leven.
Already on the land is the site of Roundhill Fort, an ancient monument.
The planning application has been backed by a petition of several hundred signatures from residents, following a public exhibition on the scheme.
Nigel Bell, of Yuill Homes, one of the companies building houses at Riverdown said: "Although there is currently no access to this area, it has superb potential for recreational and educational use and would be a treasured asset for local people and schools.
