A SUMMER fete at Polam Hall School, Darlington, saw staff and pupils step back to Victorian times for the day.
The fete opened with maypole dancing by girls in year two, and everyone wore Victorian dress and played games from the time. The event raised £1,500 for junior school funds.
Headteacher Angela Foster said: "When we started organising the fete the centenary of the death of Queen Victoria was just a fun theme. However, it proved so popular and the number of avenues we have been able to explore with the children grew very quickly and gave us such a fabulous day of fun."
