POLICE have issued an e-fit of a burglar who punched a disabled woman and stole her handbag.
The man confronted his victim while she was at her sister's flat in I'Anson Street, Darlington, on Wednesday morning.
She was punched and fell to the ground, before the burglar ran off with the bag.
Police have condemned the attack on the 56-year-old woman, who suffers from osteoporosis, and uses a wheelchair.
The woman, who does not want be named, has spoken of her ordeal, and said she is now suffering from panic attacks.
She said: "I am more angry than anything now.
"I heard the front door go while I was sat in the kitchen and saw a man who mentioned something to me about the disabled.
"He then grabbed my bag, and as I went to get it off him he punched me and I fell to the ground."
The woman said she believed the burglar was a drug addict and had a local accent.
He is about 30, 6ft, of thin build, with short, mousey hair.
He was wearing a grey jacket and trousers. Anyone with information which could help police is asked to call (01325) 467681.
