CHILDREN from schools throughout a town have had their achievements recognised.
Middlesbrough Borough Council asked staff from infant, junior and secondary schools to nominate two pupils they considered worthy of recognition.
The youngsters went to the council chamber, where the Mayor, councillor Patricia Walker, presented them with certificates.
Among the recipients were Pennyman Primary School pupils Lisa Wilson, 11, and Melissa Carter, seven.
Headteacher Alison Kerr said: "Melissa has worked hard this year, and is becoming much more confident.
"Lisa is very quiet, works really hard and stands out because she just gets on, despite being in a wheelchair.
"It's nice that the children have been recognised."
