YOUNGSTERS put their artistic talents to the test as they explored the history of a Hartlepool park.
Pupils of Eldon Grove Primary School, in Hartlepool, spent time with artist Ashley McCornick, who has been appointed to work with the community on the Back To Our Roots scheme.
The aim of the project is to encourage local people to develop a sense of ownership about Burn Valley Gardens, so they become involved in its future development and care.
The pupils made stop-start photographs, flicker books and windmill flowers, all linked to the many uses of the park.
They planted the windmill flowers in the park during a picnic on the final day of their work.
Hartlepool Borough Council community support officer Angela Palliser said: "It was a lovely few days.
"The children were very enthusiastic and produced some lovely work.
"This shows just how enthusiastic young people are about their environment, and how keen they are to become involved in the regeneration of the local area."
