FORMER Army homes, deemed surplus to requirements by the Ministry of Defence, have been selling like the proverbial hot potatoes.
In three days of business, 49 were snapped up by eager bargain hunters who descended on Catterick Garrison, in North Yorkshire.
Would-be buyers were so anxious not to lose out on the chance of a home bargain that 20 camped outside the Annington Park sales office - some of them for more than a week.
Forty-nine of the 62 homes available were snapped up within hours of the sales office opening for business on Friday.
With prices ranging from £53,950 to £61,950, the sale has so far made well over £2.5m.
