A FORMER Darlington student has unearthed more success after being awarded a first-class honours degree from Durham University.
John Thompson, who previously attended Darlington College of Technology, has gained a BA (Hons) degree in archaeology.
He gained access to the three-year course after studying at the technical college and obtaining an top grade pass in A-level archaeology. He was also a winner at the college's annual award ceremony in 1998.
Mr Thompson, from Eggleston, Teesdale, previously had a clerical job in an office, but felt he needed more of a challenge.
Judith Aird, course tutor in archaeology at Darlington, said: "I am delighted that John has received the standard of degree he so richly deserves. His A grade at A level was no surprise to me and this isn't either. I am sure he will now go on to great things in whatever career he chooses."
Mr Thompson is looking for work and is open to offers.
To enrol at the college telephone (01325) 503030.
