A NEWTON Aycliffe school's athletics team has been in top form in local league events.
Greenfield School Community and Arts College won several trophies as the South West Durham League season closed last week.
In the under-13 age group, for year eight pupils and below, the Greenfield girls remained unbeaten to retain the trophy for the second successive year.
The team was: Samantha Walker (captain), Michelle Clemmens, Samantha May, Shelley Jones, Vicky Barber, Beau Louise Martin, Rachel Barrios, Becky Hurst, Olivia Sykes, Zoe Minns, Rebecca Mitchell, Anne Drury, Jody Beckingham, Natalie Cross, Katie Blair, Stacey Brewer, Kirsty McIntosh, Charlotte Jarps, Robyn Shippen, Danielle Hudson and Natasha Waters.
The school's year seven team represented Sedgefield district at the Durham Sport Youth Games, with the team of six boys and six girls finishing fifth out of 19 schools.
Greenfield's year nine team won the South West Durham League match at Sunnydale, Shildon, just edging out Wolsingham for top spot in the contest between nine schools.
Individual winners for Greenfield were: Hannah Jones (100m), Amie Buck (200m), Emal Fenwick (discus), Rebecca Beadle (javelin), Rachel Wilson (high jump), Ross Dodds (triple jump) and James Pollard (discus).
The girls relay team, made up of Amie Buck, Kirsty Coates, Amy Thompson and Hannah Jones, also won their event.
Second places were gained by Kirsty Coates, Jenny Lee and Ross Dodds; and there were third places for Adam Gibson and the boys' relay team
