Sedgefield is gearing up for another attempt to win the Britain in Bloom contest.
The village has just received a visit from Northumbria in Bloom judges.
Sedgefield has won the best small county town category in that competition for the past eight years, and this is the seventh time it has been put forward for the national prize.
The village has a new gardener this year, David Williams, in place of Les Parrish, who was made an honorary burgess of Sedgefield when he retired after 12 years.
Sedgefield in Bloom committee member Maxine Robinson said: "We still need to encourage a larger number of businesses to get involved."
The Britain in Bloom judges will visit Sedgefield on August 10.
