GARDENERS in a North-East city are seeing stars in their bid to win a top environmental award.
Sunderland won Britain in Bloom last year and has been invited to represent the UK in the Entente Florale European Environmental Competition.
The theme for the entry is the city's Beacon Status for regeneration through sport, culture and tourism.
The logo has a yellow star at its centre, which is based on those of the European flag and Beacon Status logo.
It is being painted on grass at various locations throughout the city in preparation for the judges' visit on Friday, July 27.
The Entente Florale contest was founded more than 25 years ago to encourage urban areas to improve the environment for people living there.
