A NORTH-EAST museum has received national recognition for its approach to education.
Beamish Museum, near Chester-le-Street, County Durham, has been awarded a Sandford Award, which recognises the standard of education provided.
The museum runs programmes for students in full-time education and community groups, and also runs a loans service, as well as organising training sessions for teachers.
In their report on the museum, the judges wrote: "Everything about Beamish shouts 'quality', including its education provision, on and off site."
