PREPARATIONS are under way for a summer fair aimed at bringing together an east Cleveland community.
The Marske Town Centre Partnership summer fair takes place on Saturday, August 4, at 1pm at the Cheshire Home in the town, when there will be plenty of attractions.
The money raised will go towards the Marske Christmas Lights Fund, aimed at providing decorative lights in the town centre during the festive period.
The lights fund is one of several projects being undertaken by the partnership, which was set up in August 1999 and involves local traders, councillors and the police.
Secretary Mike Findley said yesterday that the aim of the scheme was to allow the people of Marske to have their say in respect of crime, drugs and other anti-social behaviour problems, and to come forward with positive ideas and ways of regenerating the town.
Other schemes include the installation of closed-circuit television cameras in the town centre later this year, or early next year, and the development of a community warden scheme in Marske.
The partnership meets on the last Wednesday of every month, and confirmation of the details of the meeting are set out in a notice in Marske post office.
